DST (Developmental Swim Training
~The competitive branch (DST) is for more accomplished swimmers. There comes a time when kids must move from lessons to practices. The pre-team focuses on fundamentals of competitive swimming. The squad introduces kids to swim meets and daily practice, followed by the Elite Team which provides full immersion and commitment to the sport.
~Swimming Stages Swim Academy is open to all of the greater Houston area residents and you can call to join any time of the year. All swimmers new to the school must have an evaluation to determine proper practice group placement.

Practice Groups

About our group levels:
Our program group levels offer competitive swimming to all ages and skill levels from the age of 4 to 19 years old. The group levels are a step by step process to progress through the program beginning with the red group and ending with the Senior Group 2. Moving swimmers through the levels is the sole responsibility of the coaching staff. Our coaches will have specific groups that they will run throughout the course.
Red Introductory group-
Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards unaided of freestyle and backstroke. The students may attend a 2 day or 3 day a week group.
Blue Group-
This group refines and builds on fundamentals introduced in red group while introducing advanced drills and efficiency techniques as well as starts and turns. Students are encouraged to attend 2-3 practices a week.
Age Groups-
At this time, swimmers are introduced to the basic training environment. The focus is on technique while introducing race strategy and basic interval training. The continuing improvement on stroke technique starts and turns, are a focus every single day in practice. Dryland activities include calisthenics/flexibility and the student is encouraged to attend 3-4 practices a week.
Juniors-
This is the final step in the age group progression. Swimmers need to be able to focus on conditioning and training consistency at this level. Refining technique is the number priority while endurance training is being introduced to them. Dryland training consists of flexibility and calisthenics exercises. It is recommended that the swimmer attends 5 practices a week.
Senior-
This level is the highest in United States Swimming Competitions. Skill development, speed and endurance training is what we focus on while on dryland we work on strength training through exercises and weight lifting.
Senior 2-
This group is only by invitation.

Middle School and High School Prep-
This group is designed for middle school and high school students who want to continue to swim year round at a reduced level. Practices are offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and include stroke technique and age group appropriate dryland training for strengthening and conditioning.
